How To Shuffle
So you want to shuffle? Of course you do!
Click here to download a printable pdf or here to watch a video someone else made about how to play.
Or read the instructions right here!
Here’s how to play:
1. The game of shuffleboard is played in teams of two. One player from each team stands at each end of the court.
2. One team is yellow, one team is black. Yellow begins on the right, black on the left side of “the kitchen” (10 OFF section).
3. All discs are shot from “the kitchen.” Players alternate sending discs towards the other end of the court with the goal to land your disc in a scoring zone. Yellow begins. Players alternate turns.
5. After all discs have been sent, tally up your score. Any disc that is in a scoring zone and not touching ANY lines earns that many points. If it’s touching a line YOU GET NOTHING. Sorry.
6. Any disc ending up in the kitchen is -10 points. That’s right. Negative points. Try not to get those.
7. At the end of every turn, add up your points and add/subtract them from the previous frame’s score.
8. After all eight discs are sent, next turn, black begins. Continue to alternate for all eight frames.
9. The team with the most points at the end of eight frames wins.
Some celebrating is required.
SCORING
Score is kept on a grid, for 8 frames.
At the end of each round, total each team’s points (positive or negative) and add or subtract them from the previous frame’s total.
The team with the highest point total at the end wins. This ain’t golf.
FORM
Here’s how to shoot:
The puck stays still.
The ends of the tang stay on the puck.
Stand slightly behind the disc, elbow cocked.
Take 1-2 steps and slide the stick forward, like you’re sliding a bottle of beer down the bar. Gentlty, smoothly.
That’s it.
ETIQUITTE
Don’t walk on the courts. Seriously, just don’t do it. Not cool.
Be gentle with the biscuits and tangs. No one cares how hard you shoot.
Careful swinging that stick. Watch your surroundings.
Watch your time. There are people who may have the court reserved after. Our staff will be around to help keep things moving.
And if you have any questions, ask a Shuffle employee!
